PRESS RELEASE

Regeneration Board Congratulates Chair on OBE.

The Bognor Regis Regeneration Board is delighted that Cllr Gillian Brown has received an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

Raof Daud Vice Chairman commented, ‘On behalf of the Board I would like to warmly congratulate Cllr Gillian Brown on being made an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for services to local government and the community in West Sussex. This is a richly deserved recognition of her vast contribution made over many years.”

“Cllr Brown has been Chairman of the Bognor Regis Regeneration Board since it was established in 2007. She has led the Board through an important period when there has been huge investment in Bognor Regis. This has positively impacted in many areas including the visitor economy with Butlins new hotels; education and skills with the University of Chichester; and manufacturing with Rolls-Royce Motors. The economy of Bognor Regis has been greatly enhanced by these investments.”

He added, ‘Cllr Brown’s other roles confirm her commitment to improving the environment in which local authorities undertake their responsibilities. These include Vice Chairman of the Local Government Association People & Places Board and as planning lead on the District Council’s Network Executive Board.’
