JOINT PRESS RELEASE: Bognor Regis Regeneration Board & Bognor Regis BID

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!

Bognor Regis Regeneration Board and Bognor Regis BID are working together on a campaign to encourage people to choose a day beside the sea at Bognor Regis.

The Bognor Regis Regeneration Board is proud to be partnering with the Bognor Regis BID on the ‘Space To…..’ promotional campaign.  The campaign encourages people to choose Bognor Regis as their seaside destination by highlighting its uncrowded beaches. The promotion will run for two months, targeting an audience within a 50-minute drive of Bognor Regis.  This campaign follows on from the “Safe Space” social distancing campaign led by Bognor Regis BID and Arun District Council.

Bognor Regis Regeneration Board Chairman, Raof Daud, said, “The Board was delighted to be invited to participate and to collaborate with the Bognor Regis BID on this campaign, which complements and reinforces the activities of key stakeholders including Arun District Council and Bognor Regis Town Council, all working together for the benefit of the town centre and local community. We have limited resources, but the Regeneration Board felt it was important to take rapid action to support this initiative as it is fundamental to our stated objectives and the post-Covid recovery of Bognor Regis.”

BID Chairman, Jason Passingham, said “We’re really pleased to be working with the Regeneration Board on this project, as their support has made it possible to get this important message out.  People are desperate to visit the seaside, but are being put off by pictures in newspapers showing hoards of people crammed onto beaches. Our message is very, very specific, and we’ve deliberately chosen an image that’s the direct opposite of what they’ve seen in the press. We’re not trying to promote all of Bognor Regis – we’re focusing on one single idea of enjoying an uncrowded beach in Bognor Regis.”

The image chosen for the campaign was selected from over 145 entries from local photographers in response to a BID Facebook post. Paul Wells’s photograph matched the tight criteria set, with a portrait shot of an uncrowded beachfront, taking during the day time, and using no filters or photo editing.

The campaign will feature on buses and telephone boxes, and in newspapers and magazines in places within a 50 minute drive of Bognor Regis, as well as promotion through focused social media posts. People are directed to an easily searchable web page where they’ll find more information and see many more images of the town, its beaches and the beautiful greenspaces around Bognor Regis:
