Partnership Approach Achieves Progress

Joined-Up Thinking secures UK Shared Prosperity Funding for a cleaner, brighter, welcoming Bognor Regis!

The Bognor Regis Regeneration Board warmly welcomes the announcement by Arun District Council of the funding awards made locally through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for projects within the town centre. Rebecca White, the Board’s Executive Director, commented, “Over the last 18 months, the Board has hosted a Town Centre Forum, which is an informal discussion group of stakeholders including the BR BID and the Town Council.  Within the Forum, partners have been able to identify and prioritise shared concerns and objectives for the town centre. These include combatting negative perceptions of Bognor Regis, improving the cleanliness and security of the town centre and creating a welcoming experience for our residents and visitors, both during the day and at night. The projects which have been supported by ADC through UKSPF, including a new bin scheme, additional lighting trails, bike repair stations, better wayfinding and a perception campaign to promote a positive image for Bognor Regis, all complement each other and are designed to tackle these issues. This demonstrates that organisations working for Bognor Regis which take a collaborative, co-ordinated approach to projects with a common theme can together deliver greater impact, which meets the town’s needs. The improvements will be delivered in phases over the next few years, amplifying and enhancing existing activities such as the banners and artwork within the retail area, the refurbishment of the Alexandra Theatre and the planned improvements to The Esplanade, creating a cleaner, brighter, better connected and welcoming town centre which prioritises people’s experience and enjoyment.”

The Board will work in partnership with its members and town centre stakeholders including the BR BID, Arun District Council and Bognor Regis Town Council to progress the wayfinding scheme for the town and develop the design work via community consultation.
